Technologies
Philogen is fully committed to the development of new pharmaceuticals for the treatment of severe disease.
In order to isolate the safest and most effective drugs, the company strongly relies on a number of platform technologies which are invaluable for the generation of the new candidate products.
Philogen owns three proprietary human antibody libraries and one mouse antibody library containing over 10 billion antibody clones, and a proprietary technology (Iterative Colony Filter Screening) with freedom to operate for the isolation of human monoclonal antibodies.
Over the last ten years, Philogen has developed and tested on animals, possibly the largest set of derivatives of the same monoclonal antibodies, including conjugates with drugs, photosensitizers, radionuclides, procoagulants, enzymes and cytokines.
Philogen scientists have pioneered an innovative methodology, based on perfusion procedures with reactive ester derivatives of biotin and on comparative mass spectrometric analysis, which has led to the identification and patenting of over 30 vascular markers of pathology, with applications beyond oncology.
Small organic molecules, capable of binding to their target proteins, can be identified from very large libraries thanks to unique DNA fragment serving as an amplifiable identification bar code.
Philogen has developed an original device for the robotic radio-iodination of monoclonal antibodies which reduces the complexity of the procedure and limits exposure of radiation to personnel .
Philogen owns EMEA-certified GMP production facilities in Siena, which produces the drugs studied in clinical trials in several European centers (Italy, Germany, Switzerland, UK).
