RADRETUMAB (L19-I131)

L19-I131  is the radiolabeled version of the human vascular targeting antibody L19, specific to the EDB domain of fibronectin, expressed in a recombinant format called SIP (Small Immuno Protein) which has been proven to display better tumor selectivity in vivo compared to the conventional IgG format or scFv.

This product is currently in multicenter Phase II clinical trials for the therapy of a broad range of both solid and hematological malignancies including brain metastases (combination with external beam radiation). The study design foresees the screening of patients with scintigraphic techniques, followed by radioimmunotherapy in those patients which display a tumor radiation dose at least ten times greater than the dose delivered to the bone marrow. The trials are revealing that a large proportion of cancer patients may be eligible for L19-131l treatment; a non-painful therapeutic option which may become preferable to conventional chemotherapy and external beam radiation.
